Nomination & Election of Local Lodge 1584 Officers
Nominations: Thursday, September 20, 2018 7:00 p.m. at the regular Membership Meeting.
Election: Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 436 McCormick Street, San Leandro, CA.
From the Local Lodge 1584 Bylaws: In accordance with Article III, Sections 1,2,3,5 and 6 of the Local Lodge 1584 Bylaws, you are hereby notified that at its first regular meeting in September the Local Lodge shall nominate candidates for office during a Special Order of Business for
that purpose. The election shall be held on the day of the Lodge meeting in October at 436 McCormick Street, San Leandro, California 94577 or at a site requested by Membership actions, but such actions must be approved by the District Lodge Delegates. The Local Lodge shall elect the President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Secretary-Treasurer, Conductor-Sentinel and three (3) Trustees by a secret ballot vote of its members in good standing, after which time the tellers shall count the ballots and post the results. The candidates who receive the highest vote at a secret ballot election for officers shall be declared elected. The terms of office shall be a period of three (3) years. Installation of Officers shall take place at the Lodge meeting in January.
Subject to qualifications and eligibility as required by applicable civil law or as specified in the IAM Constitution, every member in “good standing” in the Local Lodge shall be eligible for nomination and election as an officer provided that the nominee has been a “good standing” member of Local Lodge 1584 for at least one (1) year prior to the date of nomination and has been working at the trade as defined in the IAM Constitution. Members are required to have attended twenty-five percent (25%) or more of the regular Local Lodge meetings held during the 12-month period ending the date of close of nominations in order to qualify as candidates.
Absentee ballots: See rules for eligibility. You must send or deliver your written request to the Recording Secretary of the lodge at least ten (10) days before the election. Your ballot must be received prior to the close of the election at that meeting.
